Dear Rise International School Community,
I hope this message finds you well. As we continue our journey towards academic excellence, I wanted to share an important update from the College Board regarding the future of AP® Exams. This year, we have seen a concerning rise in attempts to compromise AP Exam content for financial gain. Fortunately, large-scale cancellations were avoided as the compromised material was not distributed broadly. However, paper AP testing remains vulnerable to theft and cheating.
To address this, the College Board is accelerating the transition to digital AP Exams. Starting in May 2025, standard paper testing will be discontinued for 28 AP Exams, which will move to the Bluebook™ digital testing application. Digital exams offer a more secure testing environment compared to shipping paper exams in advance to thousands of locations.
Advantages of Digital AP Exams
1. Streamlined Process
Digital AP testing eliminates the lengthy process of bubbling and labeling paper materials before testing can start.
2. Accessibility
Bluebook supports testing on commonly used devices, and students can use their own or a school-issued device.
3. Student-Friendly Interface
Students prefer the Bluebook interface as it helps them focus on relevant parts of longer reading passages, enables faster writing and editing compared to handwriting, and provides a less stressful testing experience.

Accelerating the digital transition will help preserve the integrity of the AP Exam experience for students and educators. We understand that this is a significant change, and we will work closely with our community throughout the year to ensure that everyone is well-prepared for digital AP Exams. The College Board will provide schools with loaner devices and Wi-Fi support as needed.
